"Fashion at the speed of life"

I wasn’t too sure I would like this new trend as I always think of Sport Slide sandals as bulky and unflattering and something only skate guys or jocks wear; so when Victorias Secret Pink gave away a pair with a $50 I jumped at the chance to try their updated version, (which is a sleeker slightly wider version in pops of color with “PINK” written across the front) It was love at first sight;  and now I am obsessed as they look so cute thrown on with skinny jeans and a tee or even with a jersey maxi skirt! Now I am seeing more feminine versions everywhere so here are my picks!

1.MICHAEL Michael Kors MK Sport Slide Sandals $49 neimanmarcus.com
2. YRU Hell Yeah Slide Sandals $88 nastygal.com
3. Hunter Slide Sandals $80 urbanoutfitters.com
4. Nike Benassi JDI Print Sandals $30

I was soo excited when I walked into Macy’s and feast my eyes on a gorgeous Linen backpack (that I thought was straw) from Lucky Brand that I quickly snapped it up and now use it almost everyday! I was so happy to see another style that can be used for Summer and all your Boho styles besides the ever popular straw tote! These backpacks make you feel like your traveling through some exotic local and they are roomy and go with anything! So I scoured the Internet to find others in raffia and straw materials as well.. enjoy the #bagporn !!

1.Topshop Aloha Backpack $48 nordstrom.com
2. DKNY Raffia Backpack $66.99 dkny.com
3. Lucky Brand Kendal Linen Medium Backpack $108 macys.com (have this!)
4. Hat Attack Crochet Raffia Backpack $120 amazon.com

What better way then to glitz up your Chic Summer wardrobe then with everyone’s favorite accessory? Earrings are the easiest jewelry to wear cuz they are impossible to get wrong and won’t clash with your outfit. Statement earrings are a great way to add sparkle and will dress up anything you plan on wearing this Summer! All my pics are under $30!!

1.shamelesslysparkly.com $14.90 (the earrings on this site are gorg and super cheap!)
2.wallisfashion.com $9
3.nastygal.com $7.50
4.saksoff5th.com $21 House Of Harlow
5.betseyjohnson.com $26.99 (most of the site is an extra 30% off with code FRIEND)

Style file: Boho Romo

Bohemian Romance has slowly creeped into the our minds with the slow addition of lace and flowing dresses we have seen from such designers like Rachel Zoe, Rebecca Taylor and others. The look adds elegance to the carefree spiritualism of bohemian fashion.

Most clothes of this style has flowing sleeves, crochet detail, lace and bold floral prints. The design always flows and there is nothing tight or figure grabbing. No spandex or polyester blends here.

Sandals are a must and the strap kind not slingbacks. A little heel is fine. They should be earthy tones and not bright colors. Jewelry is simple chain and cord combinations similar to bohemian styles seen in every store. Satchels are the preferred bag shape but totes can also be used.

Braids are a must-have to complete the look. The messier the braid the better to fit into the carefree lifestyle.  Floral hairpieces are bolder; going beyond the flower reef we know as a bohemian staple.

Let us see your bohemian romance looks on Instagram with #bohoromo and we will pick the best ones to feature on our new blog url, thefashiongoddessnyc.com.

We reported last week that Charming Charlie, a mega accessories store located mainly in the South and Midwest, was no longer opening their NY flagship store after we noticed the pink wrapper was removed from the store front. Oddly, two days ago, @charm_charlie  (the instagram handle for Charming Charlie) announced a   contest to win a shopping spree in June and July at their “5th ave” flagship store.  We also stated another smaller store on the next block was being renovated. There are no coincidences. Evidently, they switched to a smaller store and pushed the opening 2 to 3 months. Stay tuned for pics of the possible store location in our instagram account – thefashiongoddessblog.

Update: In response to my twitter post, Charming Charlie has given a store open date of May 26. Location still unknown.

We all love the dadbod movement but we can not help but notice actors like Seth Rogan (“dadbod” pioneer) playing opposite a thin woman who somehow bore three kids and still looks like she stepped off the pages of playboy magazine. Or did she outsource her pregnancy to him? I mean look at his wife!

The “mombod” composed of muffin top or small tummy, thick thighs and droopy breast has never gotten any love. Women are forced into spanxs, and pushup bras so why shouldn’t men have the same ordeal? Are we really a double standard community where we approve of men being lazy and shun women for having children?

I am a single, non off-spring producing female who would get and has gotten beef for hating the gym. I assure you a “dadbod” male would not get caught with a “mombod” girl who hasn’t had kids. I mean look at Seth Rogan’s wife…

In case you do not feel like scrolling up again. I am just saying if I appreciate “dadbod”, will he in turn appreciate me?

Weight in below and let us know!!!

Walking past the location of Charming Charlie that failed to open last month, I noticed the cardboard we all know that hides construction ugliness stripped of the signature pink that was announcing the opening of the store. The store was heralded as an accessories mecca with three stories of jewelry, bags, hair pieces, clothes and a showroom. A wall of Tvs was going to face the street to advertise the store, supposedly vying for the attention of pedestrians and halting traffic, is all being dismantled before my eyes. Garbage trucks line the street and workers clear out debris while eyeballing passerbys dearing us to ask, why?

So why did “Charming Charlie” pull out of its only flagship in the city while yet another H&M opens in Herald Square? The most probable cause is too expensive and too much hype. Screens, three stories and a showroom was too highly ambitious for a store use to small spaces and modest stairs to a slightly raised second level, not to mention the inventory. “Charming Charlie” is famous for limited supply and that just would not fly in the big apple.
Or maybe competition. It’s steep with 2.99 and 2.00 jewelry stores all around the city and 5 dollar handbags in Chelsea and the design district not to mention clothes big box stores like H&M, Forever21, and Macy’s as well as 5th Ave staples from Ellie Tahara to Vince Camuto.

In any rate, I guess we have to look forward to another H&M in Herald Square opening May 30.
